The Laboratory „Molecular Oncology and Wound healing“ was founded in 2001 within the BG University Hospital Bergmannsheil at the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) in Germany. To date, the laboratory is one of the largest of ist kind in Plastic Surgery Research  in Europe with a strong worldwide network of collaboratations with leaders in the field of cancer and wound healing.

In the ArtiVasc 3D project, RUB is one of the work package leaders (WP10) where the main task is to examine and validate the biocompatibility and biofunctionality to the newly created artificial skin substitutes. Additionally, RUB takes part of scientific coordination and definition of requirements (WP1) and supports the transfer of scientific model systems into preclinical applications (WP6 and WP9).
