Institute of Physics, Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg (ALU-FR)
The Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg is one of the German excellence universities with a long tradition in science research. The Institute of Physics hosts about 20 professorships with a broad spectrum of research fields ranging from high energy physics to biomolecular modelling.
The Group for Modelling and Simulation of Functional Nanosystems has strong expertise in numerical modelling using molecular dynamics and particle based methods, i.e. discrete element method and smoothed particle hydrodynamics. The research focus is on transport phenomena on microscopic and mesoscopic length scales and tribological (frictional) systems.
